Eliot Smith Dance (ESD) is committed to delivering unique, inclusive, high quality educational experiences, which range from workshops in nursery, primary and secondary schools, colleges and universities for dance and theatre students, museums and memorial halls to creative activities for elderly people in residential and day care homes, and professional development opportunities for artists.

Our engagement opportunities can be tailored to suit participants of all ages and abilities, so when you book, we encourage you to let us know any special requirements and/or preferences so that we can create a bespoke experience.

CURTAIN RAISERS

Perform on stage and open the show for ESD!
​
Enjoy working closely with ESD either during an intense and education-rich 1-day intensive or spread over 4 1.5 hour workshops, plus a rehearsal with the company.
​
Technique Class — An introduction to the Smith Method
Creative Class — Choreography and improvisation
Rehearsal — Learn your performance choreography for your 5 minute curtain raiser.
​
During the intensive you will get the chance to meet Artistic Director Eliot Smith and the ESD company dancers, develop your performance and choreographic skills, and experience performing as part of a professional theatrical production.
COMMUNITY OUTREACH

Community cast: people from the community taking part in professional productions;

Open public dance classes.
Many of our community outreach are open to those with no prior dance experience.

PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT
​

Intensives (Winter and Summer): open to professional dance artists;

Work Placement: open to students in their final year of training or have graduated from vocational training programmes. Work with ESD for one academic term, including the opportunity to perform professionally on stage at least once with the company;

Open Professional Class: Open to professional dancers and those soon to graduate. Take Class with the ESD Company dancers;

Auditions: Posted on ESD social media channels and NEWS page. All invited applicants agree to Liability Release Waiver Form

Private Tuition: ESD Dancers are available to personally deliver 1 hour to termly packages in dance technique, choreography, directing and fitness.
